A useful story makes clear what is known, where the information comes from and what remains uncertain.

Reporting and attribution

We distinguish reported facts from analysis and identify the sources of quotations, research and other supporting material. A company announcement represents that company’s account and should be understood in that context.

Evidence and context

Analysis should explain the scope of its evidence, including relevant dates, markets and limitations. Estimates must be identified as estimates, and an absence of information must not be presented as proof.

Corrections

If you spot an error, send us the article link, the passage concerned and any supporting sources so we can review it.

Commercial transparency

Sponsored content and commercial relationships relevant to a story should be clearly identified. Editorial coverage must not disguise advertising.
