Gacha gambling is the label for a paid mystery-prize loop that regulators and police increasingly treat as online gambling: players pay for a random spin, receive goods or digital items, and can turn those prizes back into money by reselling them. It differs from ordinary consumer gacha, where there is no cash-out path built into the scheme.
The Illinois Gaming Board on 22 October approved a proposed rule that would add video gaming to the state's voluntary Self-Exclusion Program. Players would need identity checks at redemption terminals before buying vouchers, and operators could offer optional cashless accounts with KYC, AML controls and self-set limits. The proposal still requires Joint Committee on Administrative Rules approval and a public comment period.
Thailand's Department of Provincial Administration is seeking public comment until 22 November 2026 on amending a 1960 ministerial regulation issued under the Gambling Act of 1935. The draft would let children and young people play and practise billiards and snooker under set conditions, and would place boxing under the oversight of the Sports Authority of Thailand instead of government bodies named in the old text.
Indonesia's national police say the Boxkia.com website, which they allege offered online gambling through a "gacha"-style spin-for-prizes game, had been operating since 2024 and turned over about Rp2 billion a month. Four people accused of running it were arrested in West Jakarta on 20 and 21 October and face online gambling and money laundering allegations; police say players paid in through channels including QRIS, BRIVA virtual accounts and the USDT stablecoin.
