Betting drives the monthly gain

Betting, which covers sports, esports and novelty bets, produced C$69.1 million in revenue on C$1.07 billion in cash wagers. Betting wagers rose 27.4% from August, by our calculation, in the month the NFL season began, but were only 1.2% higher than in September 2025. Betting revenue, by contrast, was 47.3% higher than a year earlier, meaning operators kept a larger share of each dollar bet: 6.4% of betting wagers this September against 4.4% in September 2025, by our calculation.

Casino games, which include slots, live and digital table games and bingo, still made up 82% of revenue. Casino wagers fell 3.1% from August to C$8.50 billion, but casino revenue edged up 1.3% to C$340.8 million.

For the first nine months of 2026, the market's NAGGR totalled about C$3.58 billion, 26.0% more than in the same period of 2025, by our calculation from the monthly figures. The third quarter, July to September, came to C$1.23 billion, up 25.7% year on year.

The figures cover operators that have an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. They exclude OLG's own online gaming site and pari-mutuel horse racing bets, and iGaming Ontario says they are unaudited and subject to adjustment. Active player accounts are not unique players, because one person can hold accounts with several operators.

Ontario's regulator, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, separately reached a two-day suspension settlement with PointsBet Canada in October, and this week changed its rules for self-serve lottery terminals.
