Zeus vs Hades: Gods of War by Pragmatic Play Expert Review
Updated:
Here you can find detailed review information about Zeus vs Hades: Gods of War by Pragmatic Play.
Overview
A distinctive two-mode slot built around sticky, multiplied reels. Our 7.4/10 assessment credits its clear bonus progression and contrasting Olympus/Hades profiles, while marking down the crowded portrait layout and complex stake and purchase rules. Demo results illustrate the mechanics, not long-term returns.
Zeus vs Hades is most interesting when the reels start holding expanding Wilds in place. The choice between Olympus and Hades also changes the bonus profile, so it is more than a change of scenery. I like having that choice; I am less keen on how much explaining the stake controls and four bonus prices need. This is the original Pragmatic Play game, not Gods of War 250.
What I liked
✅ Olympus and Hades have clearly different looks and bonus profiles.
✅ Sticky, full-reel Wilds make the progress of a free-spin round easy to follow.
✅ The help separates the costs and theoretical RTPs of all six configurations.
What I didn’t like
❌ The five-row layout and small balance text feel cramped in a portrait-sized browser.
❌ A 10× bet multiplier beside 15 paylines is not an intuitive starting point for a beginner.
❌ Super costs 300 times the base stake and guarantees a Wild, not a profitable round.

Olympus or Hades: what actually changes?
Both modes use five reels, five rows and 15 paylines. Olympus puts Zeus in a blue temple above the clouds; Hades replaces it with lava, chains and fiery versions of the same paying symbols. Their ordinary symbol payouts match.
The important difference is in the bonus profile. The game's rules describe Olympus as triggering free spins more often, with a lower average free-spin win. Hades triggers them less often, with a higher average win when they arrive. Neither description means a bonus is due after a particular number of spins. Our random number generator (RNG) guide explains the underlying principle. The mode selector labels the volatility of Olympus HIGH and Hades VERY HIGH.
Our team tested the supplier's free demo on 8 October 2026 (Asia/Shanghai; captured on 7 October UTC), using virtual credits displayed in dollars. We played 25 base-game spins in each mode and tested the four purchase options separately. Those short records show what happened in our session; they do not measure either mode's long-term trigger rate.
Finding your way around the screen

The numbered controls are:
- bonus-purchase menu
- Olympus
- Hades
- reel grid
- game title
- settings
- sound
- information
- balance
- total stake
- decrease stake and open the bet menu
- spin
- increase stake and open the bet menu
- autoplay and speed controls

For the recorded minimum, BET 1 × coin value 0.01 × the displayed 10× multiplier gives a total of 0.10. Use the displayed total when comparing costs; dividing it by the 15 paylines would not reproduce the help's payout table. The minus and plus controls adjust BET, coin value or total stake, depending on the row selected.
The information button opens the rules. Settings describe separate ambient-sound and sound-effect controls, an introduction-screen toggle and game history. The speed control cycles through Normal, Quick and Turbo. Our first base-game spin used Normal and the remaining 49 used Turbo; this was not a controlled comparison of their returns. An autoplay setting showing 100 is only a setting, not evidence that we completed a 100-spin automatic run.

That matters when reading a review on a phone in the Philippines, but these pictures are browser-size simulations, not a physical-phone or Philippine-network test. We did not test the game's sound or interrupted-round recovery.
Reading the paylines and symbols
Matching symbols pay from the leftmost reel across adjacent reels on one of the 15 defined lines. Only the highest combination pays on each line; wins from separate lines are added together. The five-row grid does not use a pay-anywhere or cluster system.

Displayed payouts at a total stake of 0.10 demo credits
| Symbol pair or group | 3 matching | 4 matching | 5 matching |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zeus / Hades portrait | 0.20 | 1.00 | 2.00 |
| Winged horse / red beast; birds | 0.10 | 0.50 | 1.00 |
| Helmets; cups | 0.05 | 0.25 | 0.50 |
| A, K, Q, J and 10, individually | 0.01 | 0.05 | 0.10 |
| Ordinary Wild or expanding Wild | 0.20 | 1.00 | 2.00 |
Olympus and Hades give each ordinary symbol a different skin, not a second payout schedule. The ordinary WILD word symbol can appear on any reel and substitutes for everything except Scatter. A lightning badge or red emblem is a separate expanding Wild.

This is a useful example of why two Wilds do not automatically mean a 2× multiplier. Those were two ordinary substitutes. There was no expanding reel or random multiplier attached to them.
Expanding Wilds and free spins
An expanding Wild can appear on any reel. In the base game, it fills that reel when the expansion would produce a win. Its random multiplier can be 2× through 10×, or 20×, 25×, 50× or 100×. It affects winning combinations that include it. If several multiplied Wilds belong to the same winning combination, their multipliers add together.
Three Scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5 trigger ten free spins. In that feature, expanding Wilds expand, receive a multiplier and stay for the rest of the round. The feature uses special reels and cannot retrigger. The full feature award is paid when the round finishes.
The two Super purchases we tested demonstrated a Wild appearing on the first free spin and remaining afterwards. Hades Super started with a 2× Wild on reel 4; Olympus Super started with a 3× Wild on reel 1. That is the useful part of the guarantee: a starting Wild. It is not a guarantee of 100×, a winning line or a profit.

This final screen does not show a 100× Wild. We also did not reconstruct an individual winning line from the total award, so the addition rule above comes from the help, not from reverse-engineering this one result. Our base-game sample produced no expanding Wild and no naturally triggered free-spin round; the feature observations came from demo purchases.
Bonus prices, RTP and the 15,000× limit

| Option | Cost in base stakes | Cost at 0.10 demo stake | First-spin guarantee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Olympus standard | 75× | 7.50 | No guaranteed expanding Wild |
| Olympus Super | 300× | 30.00 | One expanding Wild, random position and multiplier |
| Hades standard | 150× | 15.00 | No guaranteed expanding Wild |
| Hades Super | 300× | 30.00 | One expanding Wild, random position and multiplier |
A bonus purchase is a separate, much larger cost than a base spin. To put the multiplier in familiar terms: if a Philippine version offered a ₱1 base stake, 75× would cost ₱75 and 300× would cost ₱300. This is a hypothetical cost example, not a verified peso denomination or a conversion of our demo balance.
| Tested configuration | Theoretical RTP in its help |
|---|---|
| Olympus base game | 96.05% |
| Hades base game | 96.07% |
| Olympus standard purchase | 96.04% |
| Olympus Super purchase | 96.01% |
| Hades standard purchase | 96.14% |
| Hades Super purchase | 96.08% |
In the supplier’s USD-denominated free demo captured on 7 October 2026 UTC, the help listed a minimum total stake of 0.10 and a maximum of 250.00 demo credits. That historical demo range is not a verified current limit for every deployment or for peso-denominated play. Check the help and stake menu in the version you open. The maximum award is 15,000 times the base stake in the base game and free spins. At our 0.10 stake, that would be 1,500.00 demo credits. Reaching the cap ends the round and forfeits remaining feature play; we did not reach it.
The slot simulator can help illustrate why a short sample can look very different from a theoretical return. It does not reproduce this game's private mathematics.
What happened in our demo session
We completed 50 base-game spins in one continuous wallet, followed by four separate bonus purchases. All figures below are virtual USD demo credits, not deposits or withdrawals.
| Base-game sample | Cost | Payout | Net change | Sample return |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Olympus, spins 1–25 | 2.50 | 0.05 | −2.45 | 2.00% |
| Hades, spins 26–50 | 2.50 | 0.32 | −2.18 | 12.80% |
| All 50 | 5.00 | 0.37 | −4.63 | 7.40% |
Five spins paid something: 17, 37, 39, 44 and 45. Only spin 37 paid more than its cost, returning 0.20 on a 0.10 stake. The other 45 spins paid zero. There was a 19-spin run of zero payouts across the mode change, from spin 18 to spin 36. That is a description of this session, not a forecast for the next one.

We then completed ten free spins for each of the four purchase options. These are separate rounds, so their costs should not disappear into the base-spin figures.
| Purchase, in test order | Cost | Final payout | Net change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hades standard | 15.00 | 0.00 | −15.00 |
| Hades Super | 30.00 | 0.60 | −29.40 |
| Olympus standard | 7.50 | 0.90 | −6.60 |
| Olympus Super | 30.00 | 233.60 | +203.60 |
| Total | 82.50 | 235.10 | +152.60 |
Only the last purchase covered its price. Its 233.60 award equals 2,336 base stakes, but about 7.79 times the 30.00 purchase price. Hades standard finished with two expanded reels and still paid zero: the Wilds need to form paying combinations. One large outcome drove the four-purchase sample, which cannot establish that Olympus is more profitable or validate any theoretical RTP.
Our verdict and useful comparisons
Our editorial assessment gives the original Zeus vs Hades 7.4 out of 10. The mode choice and sticky expanding reels give it a clear identity. The trade-off is a busy five-row board, less comfortable portrait reading and several cost and multiplier rules to learn before the results make sense. The score reflects those design choices, not whether our small sample won or lost.
The most useful comparison is how the Wild feature develops. In The Dog House, multiplied Wilds stick during free spins. Big Bass Splash instead uses fisherman Wilds to collect fish values and advance a free-spin collection feature. Zeus vs Hades makes whole multiplied reels the centre of the round.
| Game | Layout / lines | Free-spin focus | Purchase in the compared build |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zeus vs Hades | 5×5 / 15 | Sticky expanding Wilds; no retrigger | 75×, 150× or 300× by option |
| The Dog House | 5×3 / 20 | Sticky Wilds with 2× or 3× line multipliers; no retrigger | No purchase found in the inspected build |
| Big Bass Splash | 5×3 / 10 | Wild collection adds batches and raises collection multipliers | 100× |
Choose this game for the two profiles and the way a feature builds around held reels. If you want a simpler screen and fewer price options to keep track of, those alternatives are worth comparing. None of the three short samples tells us which game will return more over time.
